Looks at the value of community self-build to housing associations seeking tenant pride in home and neighbourhood. Explains what community self-build is and provides a case study of a Boleyn and Forest Housing Society scheme. Although self-build in the UK is booming with 15 000-20 000 schemes initiated each year, only six housing associations are currently committed to regular output of community self-build developments. Presents views on the benefits to housing associations of these schemes and also the difficulties involved in managing them.
