Delivering big carbon cuts
- 2004
- DEFRA News Release (155/04) 26 April 2004 (4) .
Government plans to improve energy efficiency massively to boost efforts to tackle climate change and save over £3bn a year on energy costs have been published. "Energy efficiency - the government's plan for action" reveals how carbon emissions will be cut through energy efficiency by an extra 12m tonnes within the next six years including a new commitment to save 4.2m tonnes of carbon from households by 2010. The action plan is available at http://www.official-documents.co.uk/document/cm61/ 6168/6168.pdf. Also published is "The government's strategy for combine heat and power to 2010", available at http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/energy/chp/chp -strategy.pdf, which demonstrates continued government support for energy-efficient CHP technology. http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/2004/040426c.htm
