The latest IPD figures reveal a total return to UK residential investors of 11.5% in 2003. The "UK residential investment index" shows that residential has been the top performing UK investment property sector over the past three years, returning 16.2% a year, compared with 9.1% for commercial property. Central and inner London experienced a total return of below 5%, compared with nearly 25% in northern England and Scotland, highlighting regional differences.
