The Scottish Parliament has approved the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Bill 2004. The Bill introduces a general biodiversity duty which will apply to all Scotland's public bodies. It will also improve protection for Scotland's important Sites of Special Scientific Interest. It builds on the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003, to help combat wildlife crime.
