RICS has produced two guides, aimed at helping tenants and landlords avoid the pitfalls of renting. "What every tenant should know" covers what you can afford, the letting and management agent, what to do when you find a property, references, tenancy agreement and deposit and moving in, and is written from a tenant's perspective. "What every landlord should know" includes questions for would-be landlords, is your property ready to rent, using an agent, letting agents, management agents and who is responsible for what, and is written from the landlord's point of view.
