Focus Regional Development Agencies
- 2004
- Estates Gazette (0418) 1 May 2004, 65-73(9) .
Looks at how three Regional Development Agencies (RDA) have benefited from going on fact-finding missions to other countries: South East England Development Agency for its Wolston Riverside development at Southampton; the Welsh Development Agency for its Cardiff Bay project and the East of England Development Agency with its market town initiative. Assesses the performance success of RDAs, five years after they were set up, in meeting their regeneration targets. Provides statistics on how RDAs are ensuring that brownfield land is remediated and ready for development. Looks at how RDAs are managing investment portfolios which they inherited, ranging from North West Development Agency's outsourcing its portfolio, to South West of England Regional Development Agency's traditional strategy of managing property in house and planning to dispose of surplus requirements for disposal through auction. Concludes with an interview with Sir Graham Hall chairman of the Northern Way Steering Group, which is carrying out a review of how Yorkshire Forward, One North East and the North West Development Agency can unite their economic development, transport, housing, skills and education policies. Lists members of the Northern Way Steering Group.
