Gives details of the new Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. This will lead to a more flexible and responsive planning system in England. The act includes, simpler planning at regional and local level and improvements to the development control process by introducing powers to introduce standard application forms. There are ways of speeding up the processes for major infrastructure projects by allowing different elements of inquiries to he heard concurrently rather than consecutively.
