- 2004
- Planning (for the Natural and Built Environment) (1570) 21 May 2004, 3(1) .
Planning for economic development has a lower profile amongst local authorities than other planning areas such as housing and retail development, according to research just published. The ODPM-commissioned report "Planning for economic development" will inform the government's impending review of planning guidance for economic development to be published as the new PPS4. The study highlights regional variations in practice and uncovers differences between regional 'go for growth' plans and more protectionist local development plans. It recommends a standard approach to assessing need and allocation of employment land. The research is available at http://www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_planni ng/documents/page/odpm_plan_028803.pdf
