Discusses the "Building"/Hays Montrose consultant's salary survey 2004. Shows how general conditions in the sector are still buoyant with pay continuing to soar. RICS has cautioned that these rises are a cause for concern as they may lead to the return of the boom and bust culture that characterised the early 1990s. In the surveying sector especially, the skills shortage means that pay is rising very quickly with average increases of between 6% and 8%.
