Consultation on upward-only rent reviews - 2004 - ODPM Consultation Paper 1 June 2004 (25) .

Government's consultation paper on upward-only rent review (UORR) has been published by the ODPM. The paper sets out six options: 1) do nothing; 2) ban upward-only rent clauses; 3) ban UORRs subject to a floor of the initial rent; 4) give tenants a right to break if the UORR produced a rent above open market levels; 5) limit lease length; 6) require landords to give prospective tenant priced options. The consultation period runs until 30 September 2004. "Commercial property leases: options for deterring or outlawing the use of upward only rent review clauses" is available at http://www.odpm.gov.uk/urban/consult.
