Examining the real impact of HOS on private housing markets in Hong Kong - 2004 - Surveyors' Times [Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors] 13(4) April 2004, 22-24(3) .

Analyses whether public housing can pull down the price level of a neighbouring private housing market. Observes that Hong Kong has almost half of its population living in public or subsidised housing and in such a small city, it is difficult for developments not be built near private projects. Using collaborative data and formulae concludes that the proximity of social housing produces a stigma, but the distance involved does not necessarily correlate to the negative effect. The perceived stigma may be psychological rather than physical.
