Homes above shops campaign receives boost

Government funding has been secured for the Living over the shop campaign, which champions the conversion of unused space above high street stores. The housing minister has promised funding to ensure the campaign has a key role in negotiating bulk contracts with retailers at a national level. A new agency will be set up to accelerate the work carried out on a piecemeal basis by local authorities. The agency has the potential to create 300 000 extra homes.
