UK construction industry in overdrive
- 2004
- RICS Press Release (pr063)1 July 2004 (3) .
The "RICS construction market survey United Kingdom" for the second quarter 2004 shows industry confidence close to record levels and workloads hitting new highs. 30% more surveyors reported a rise in work than a fall for the construction industry overall. Virtually all industry sub-sectors have been buoyant in the second quarter: private house building with 40% of surveyors reporting rises, public housing with 21%, public non-housing work with 31% and private commercial building with 38%. Rising interest rates and costs are seen as the only potential brakes on the industry at the moment. The survey is available at http://www.rics.org/resources/economic_analysis/co nstruction_market_survey.html. http://www.rics.org/ricscms/bin/show?class=PressRe lease&template=/includes/showpr.html&id=1196&facul ty=RICS
