Latest Office of National Statistics "Index of production" shows further signs of the recovery in manufacturing as output increased by 0.4% in the three months to May compared with the three months to February. Significant increases were seen in the transport equipment industries, where output increased by 1.8%, and the machinery and equipment industries where output increased by 2.5%.
