Over the years England's southeast coast has been under assault from waves, flooding, storms and high winds and challenging both the budgets and the resources of local authority coastal managers. These local authorities have now joined forces to work together as part of the Southeast Regional Coastal Monitoring programme. As a likely pilot for other areas of Britain's vulnerable coastline, the programme aims to provide the Environment Agency, coastal groups and researchers with a single source of data on open coastline between Weymouth and the Isle of Grain.
