July 2004's "Rightmove house price index" shows that asking prices are up just 1.2% this month at £196 198 - less than half the increase seen in June (2.6%) and the smallest rise since January. Regions in southern England led the slowdown with the South West down 0.4%, East Anglia down 0.6% and the South East and Greater London were both up only 1.0% Prices in the Midlands, North and Wales continue to rise more strongly.
