Gross mortgage lending in June 2004 totalled nearly £18.0bn. This was £2.4bn higher than in May 2004 and 20% more than June 2003. These are the highest figures on record. Approval numbers in June were also stronger than May - there were 230 300 loans approved, with a total value of £18.9bn.
