- Prime Minister's Strategy Unit Press Release 19 July 2004 (3) .
The Prime Minister's Strategy Unit has published its "London report" which reviews the strategic issues facing London, its role as the UK's capital and as a world city, and the delivery of long-term central government priorities in the region. One of the issues covered is that of transport in the city - its layout was largely determined before the car was invented and the roads just cannot cope with the heavy volumes of traffic. Rail and underground services need a higher level of investment according to the report.
