Discusses the case of "Nichols, Albion and Lainson v Powergen Renewables Ltd and another" (South Lakeland Magistrates' Court, 20 January 2004). This is the first case in which an attempt has been made to use statutory nuisance proceedings for alleged noise nuisance from turbines. It illustrates the conflict between government's targets for renewable energy and people's attitudes towards the turbines which are often situated in relatively unspoilt and peaceful rural areas.
