Demand for rented homes high

Demand for rented homes high - 2004 - RICS Press Release (pr080) 24 August 2004 (2) .

The latest "RICS residential lettings survey Great Britain" has been published. It shows that rents are rising at the strongest pace for three years, with overall demand for rented homes remaining firm. This is due to many would be first time buyers taking up rented accommodation while they see how the housing market progresses. In the three months to July 2004, 13% more surveyors reported a rise than a fall. The average monthly rent in Great Britain (including London) for three months to July 2004 was £727 with most tenants being young adults - almost two-thirds are aged less than 35. http://www.rics.org/
