- Farmers' Weekly 141(8) 20-26 August 2004, 11 (1) .
A survey by Associa for NFU CYMRU has revealed that only 53.9% of Welsh farmers get more than 65% of their income from running their holdings. It also indicated that 42.6% of those surveyed had no additional sources of income. Those that do earn their money off-farm either labour on other farms, drive tractors and lorries or perform non-agricultural activities. Of the farmers questioned, just 22% were aged 31-45 and only 2% were under 30. The survey results also highlighted the public's poor perception of the industry.
