Interim household projections

The ODPM has published interim projections of the number of households (2002-based) for England to 2021. The figures indicate that an additional 189 000 households are likely to form each year to 2021 if demographic trends continue and housing supply is unconstrained. This compares to 150 000 as predicted in the 1996-based projections. The statistics are interim as the projections will be fully updated in 2005 to take into account 2003-based projections and household formation rates from the 2001 census.
