Looks at how a main or subcontractor can recover additional costs, created by increased expenditure under the Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), if he was not responsible for the events that caused these losses. Identifies some of the issues which arise, such as: variations; breach of contract; failure to give access to an area by a required date; trades working out of sequence; affecting efficient installation by others; and failure of the project manager to issue instructions in good time. Recommends early identification of these problems as the key to dealing with them.
