According to a report carried out by Enviros for the ODPM, planners have only scant experience of latest waste disposal methods. "Planning for waste management facilities", which can be viewed at: http://www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_planni ng/documents/page/odpm_plan_030747.pdf, found that while authorities have good knowledge of traditional waste management, they do not have much experience of dealing with applications for techniques like anaerobic digestion. Also recovery of waste materials in the waste stream for recycling and composting must increase.
