The funding of London's Crossrail project is in doubt after property industry leader dismissed one of Transport for London's proposed methods for meeting the costs as arbitrary and unfair. In "The role of property in financing infrastructure" by the Social Market Foundation, members of the British Property Federation from Tesco, Canary Wharf, FPD Savills and British Land argue that it would be impossible to implement a tax on the profits made on nearby property when railways were built.
