New funding stream for local authorities

A paper published by the Town and Country Planning Association; 'Funding sustainable communities: smart growth and intelligent local finance', says that new land taxes should be introduced to provide local authorities with extra funds for social housing and urban renewal projects. According to the author of the report these policies would generate more finance which could come under local control and give more priority to social housing.
