According to a report by the Ramblers Association, "Public access to woodlands sold off by the Forestry Commission", most purchasers of Forestry Commission land since 1981 have not continued to allow public access to the land. The Forestry Industry Committee has rejected proposals to privatise the Forestry Commission.
