Helping tenant farmers diversify

Helping tenant farmers diversify - 2004 - DEFRA News Release (388/04) 4 October 2004 (2) .

Two new measures have been introduced with £250 000 DEFRA backing to help tenant farmers diversify and secure a profitable future. The Tenancy Reform Industry Group's code of practice is designed to stimulate diversification in the tenanted sector. DEFRA is consulting on amending outdated legislation to remove barriers to ensure diversification does not prevent tenancy succession and to create greater flexibility for landlords and tenants to agree rent review provisions, compensation payable at the end of a tenancy and the notice period to terminate a tenancy. The code of practice is available at http://www.defra.gov.uk/farm/tenancy/index.htm#cog p and the consultation at http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/tenancy- reform/index.htm. http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/2004/041004b.htm
