New research by RICS highlighting the importance of building in a more sustainable way to protect the increasingly fragile environment concludes that the private sector is unlikely to adopt more sustainable building processes unless prompted by governments and regulation is essential to control the environmental impact of construction activity. Buildings currently account for an estimated 40% of global resource consumption and over 40% of all waste.
