Summarises the performance of the country house market during the first half of 2004 as reflected in the Knight Frank Country Homes Index. Country house prices performed strongly in this period after a period of weakness in 2003. The index monitors three categories of country house: manor houses, farmhouses and country cottages. Manor house prices rose by 9.7% in the year to June 2004, farmhouse prices by 13% and country cottage prices by 12.7%.
