DEFRA has recently launched a consultation on a new three-year strategy for data on waste. It sets out proposals for delivering more accurate, complete, timely and consistent data on all types of waste. It also proposes more robust and consistent new arrangements for collecting data, based on common standards and definitions. Information would be stored in a central data warehouse, developed and funded by DEFRA, which will provide easy access to all via the internet.
