New tests for Scottish structural engineers - 2004 - New Civil Engineer 4 November 2004, 6(1) .

Structural engineers working in the Scottish building industry have until May 2005 to register with a new ICE/Institution of Structural Engineers (IstructE) body if they want to retain the right to self certify building applications. The new system is part of the requirements set out in the new Building (Scotland) Act 2003. Up to 2 000 engineers are expected to sign up to the register, which will be free until January 2005.
