The "RICS rural land market survey: Great Britain" has just been published for the third quarter of 2004. It shows that land prices are rocketing as demand greatly outstrips supply. Investors currently perceive the rural market as a viable alternative to the stock market and property. The average price of farmland for the third quarter 2004 has edged closer to £10 000 per hectare - this is an overall rise of nearly 30% in the last 12 months.
