"PPS10: planning for sustainable waste management" has been published in draft form. It aims to deliver a better match between the waste that communities generate and the facilities needed to manage it. Regional planning bodies and authorities must deliver sustainable development by driving waste management up the waste hierarchy and looking on waste as a resouce. The draft policy statement also provides the framework for setting a long-term vision for 15-20 years ahead as well as a short-term detailed plan of action.
