The Freedom of Information Act 2000 comes fully into effect on 1 January 2005. With this in mind the government has taken an important step to creating a simple system for the exchange of information between public bodies and the public. Regulations include no charge for search and collation time for the vast majority of requests and the fees regime will be easy for public bodies to operate.
