Gives advice to property managers on a new law which came into effect on 1 January 2005 and will require all but minor work to be carried out by a government approved competent person. This is reflected in the the new part of the Building Regulations, Part P. All proposed electrical installation work in dwellings will need to be notified to a building control body before work commences with some exceptions such as when the proposed work is undertaken by a prescribed competent person. Part P will be enforced by local authorities with failure to comply a legal offence.
