RICS has received reports about a minority of registered valuers who have been involved in suspect and illegal investment schemes, apparently unwittingly. The aim of this alert is to remind RICS members of their obligations and to identify warning signs to help RICS members and regulated firms avoid any involvement in such schemes. RICS may have regard to this alert when exercising its regulatory functions.
This alert is also relevant to members of the public who are thinking about investing in schemes being promoted as investments where a chartered surveyor is involved.
