A House of Commons Library research briefing discusses nutrient neutrality, the Government's plans to amend the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 which were defeated in the Lords, and provisions in the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill 2022-23 for a new duty on water and sewerage companies to upgrade their wastewater treatment works by 2030 in areas where habitats sites are in "unfavourable condition".
