Home survey standard 2nd edition draft professional standard

Over 325 RICS professionals shared their feedback in a 2024 member survey, which focused on the effectiveness of the current standard, as well as suggestions for improvement. In parallel, a UK-wide consumer survey of more than 1,400 homeowners was carried out to capture public views and expectations around home surveys.
The findings from both surveys have informed the draft of an updated standard, which is now subject to formal consultation and opened on 19th August 2025 and closes on 30 September 2025.
There is a separate consultation on the potential development of a home survey reglation scheme aimed at further supporting public trust and professional consistency in the market.
