In Irene Vlassopoulou v Ministerium fur Justiz, Bundes-und Europaangelegenheiten , Baden-Wurttenberg, European Court of Justice 7 May 1991, it was held that in considering an application for authorisation to practice a profession, access to which, under national legislation , was subject to the possession of a diploma or a professional qualification the national authorities concerned were bound to take into consideration the diplomas, certificates and other qualifications which the applicant had acquired with a view to practicing the same profession in another member state by carrying out a comparison of the skills attested by those diplomas and the knowledge and qualifications required by the national rules.
