A more rigourous approach to open space protection in London is in prospect in the next round of strategic planning advice. Results from a study commissioned by the London Planning Advisory Committee indicate that while the present London-wide approach to open space protection remains valid, refinement of the existing open space `hierarchy` would provide a stronger basis for assessing needs and thus promoting safeguards.
