In "Sears Investment Trust Ltd and others v Lewis`s Group Ltd (in liquidation) and another", ChD 31 July 1992, it was held that a principal, who had terminated an agent`s authority to act for specific purposes, while encouraging that agent to seek instructions in the same matter from a new client, could not thereafter claim that the agent still owed him a duty of loyalty.
