In the light of the decision in "Yorkshire Water Services Ltd v Sun Alliance & London Insurance plc" stresses that separate environmental insurance may be needed if not covered by a standard public liability policy. It also points out that insurers are not always liable for the cost of work carried out to prevent a recurrence of an environmental accident so clarification needs to be obtained from the insurer before going ahead.
