Discusses the issues relating to the costs incurred where planning appeals are abandoned and the other party suffers unreasonable behaviour, identifies legislation which allows costs against those who unreasonably withdraw from a public inquiry. Recent awards particularly that of McDonalds Hampstead appeal are also examined.
