Local authorities have over the years established a network of leisure facilities which may now be under threat from privatisation . In this article the author looks at the implications of privatisation for the leisure industry highlighting the views of some local authorities and of the Sports Council . Also stresses the need for adequate leisure centre management if local authorities are not to lose out to private enterprise.
