A critical commentary on the Agriculture Act 1986 ,which provides the basis on which landlords are to pay compensation to tenants on quitting when a milk quota is attached to the holding. This is considered in the light of the author`s contention that the Act creates more problems than it sets out to resolve because no one has yet thought out the essence of milk quota and formulated principles of the rights and duties of the parties.
