A Chartered Surveyor and forester discusses the economics of farm forestry covering private forestry ,the gross cost for the establishment of such an enterprise,the problem of cash flow,the financial yields from forestry and comments briefly on timber prices . Concludes,that while there are opportunities to develop forestry as a general farm enterprise,this is unlikely to happen to any degree,unless the EEC, Government and the public accept the need to provide realistic long term support. Includes tables detailing costs and revenues for conifers and broadleaves and the Forestry Commission grant band per hectares.
