On the basis of data from a sample of 13,963 transactions in October 1985, house price differentials between the South East and the other eight English planning regions were calculated. This paper reports region-specific hedonic price equations and uses them to estimate what proportion of the price differential between each region and the South East is related to differences in the neighbourhood and physical characteristics of the respective housing stocks.
