The green belt faces planning pressures from the agricultural industry, as farmers seek alternative uses for land and buildings. As pressures for farm diversification intensify, the author sees the need for agriculture to be brought within the mainstream planning system. The benefits to the countryside of the establishment of " farm parks ", agriculture`s equivalent to business parks, as an alternative to fragmenting farms, are considered.
