In BP Petroleum Developments Ltd v Ryder and Others , ChD 17 June 1987, the court granted the necessary rights to the plaintiffs to exploit Wytch Farm oilfield , Dorset rejecting the defendants` compensation claim related to the value of the oil exploited. Held that the defendants should be paid only existing use value of the rights acquired over their land.
